Just had a nice get away in LIttle Cayman this last weekend, probably going back this weekend.

Michelle if you read this please email me at Giles AT reefdivers.ky and I will try replying to you as the last times i replied to you the messages never seemed to make it to you.

Hopefully I’ll get some more pics up soon and the rest of it all on here too .. I have some past journal entries to put in.

Also if Anyone knows if they can get me some RAm for my computer I need 1 or 2 512 MB of DDR Ram 266 Mhz for a Columbia II (GA-8SIML) Ver 1.0 ATX motherboard Please help save my computer and get me back to being multi mediated again !!

Ivan has devastated the island of Grand Cayman, we have no power and no water 95% of houses are damaged 10% or there abouts beyond repair.

During the storm we had sustained winds of 170mph for 7 hours or there abouts. Gusts way over 200mph.

My house lost its roof and ceilings and most of my clothes got ruined but i managed to get everything out.
I am living in my good friend Sue’s house (now her bed now she has left) and and basically homeless untyil i find somewhere else.

Times are very hard many people living like peasants basically, hard to keep clean and keep your stuff clean as everywhere is dirty and most of it is dried sewage water.

I am staying on the island as i want to be a part of this rebuild but it will be slow and hard work. We are making great progress, power is slowly coming back to some places, CUC is kicking butt, water is also creeping back out.

I do have loads of photos which I will be putting up soon, but i need some time for that. If you want to contact me I am (345) 917 2999 or email giles AT shaxted.co.uk

I am in sporadic computer access at work now. If you want to visit Cayman you will have to wait, but don’t expect what you are used to either, the island is different, ruined and on the way to being better than ever, this is a nice clean start and a great opportunity for everyone to make the changes this island needed.

So the storm is nearing, last update I heard was it will get it’s eye within 8 miles of us .. and at 2am we will be experiencing Hurricane force winds, by 6am we will have 165 mph winds .. wow ..exciting and scary all at the same time, I have never experienced anything like that power before.
I have put a gallery up you can link through by clicking the title of this blog .. but here is one of my favourites.

So I have been at this job now for jusat over a month and I am pretty sure I like it, I definately like the money but I am not sure if I am digging this Cayman Madness thing. It’s not my kinda event, although I am turning it into my event and not sure if anyone else likes it that way. But the show wil go on, and I will get my nice bonus at the end as well as extra vacation days. We have almost finished the first week (of six) and I have already put in about 24 overtime hours. So that is about 3 extra days off. Four more weeks of this (with customers) should mean 15 more vacation days on top of my 10… thats a nice damn vacation ! And I will have money to do it.
I just then have to get a vacation to use it. And as time goes by I am trying harder to put together my trip back home to see my friends and family and also my (heart) lovely little Bianca.

Can’t wait for these six weeks to be over so life can be normal .. I can get work done, and have a social life. The evening partys suck and thats because I don’t want to play stupid games and give out prizes, i just give them out.
I’ll try not to post about this again, although it is a good release. more piccies and happy posts to come.
As well as slow new look to the site.

I am kinda in charge of Cayman Madness this year, if you don’t know what it is follow the title link through .. It is hard damn work especially considering I don’t know what is going on, and I am not getting much help, apart from the lovely Shannon I work with who has been great at doing all the organising and getting stuff ready for me and prepping me for what meant to happen. Then recently Inaki our Ops manager has become really helpfull as well, so thank you all, and hopefully soon this six weeks will be over and we can all relax and carry on with life.
Maybe i’ll get ot work on my vacation too ! Bring it on.

I had a blast last night thanks to Alex Mustard and Ocean Frontiers

Having never seen anything like this in real life only on video’s my jaw was wide open and I was stunned by everything i saw, I haven’t done a late late night dive like that (10pm) in forever so everything was exciting to me, especially nowadays with my knowledge being much more than it used to be.
