BAFTA 2009

THE BAFTAs 2009; the movies to see this year that already won awards!

Today has been mostly spent watching TV. Not a bad way to spend a Sunday, that and eating. As I write this post I realise my complete disrespect for my body not only starts there but is now ongoing in front of the computer as my mind yet again is drawn away from remembering I am thirsty and I haven’t had any water to drink yet, anyway I digress. My TV day today consisted of both the Welsh v Scotland Six Nations(spoiler in link) game which was great to watch even though I don’t support either. Wales looked on top form and like the champions they are. Scotland on the other hand started off without composure but ended up looking like they may just be able to cause some trouble in the upcoming matches.

The rest of the day was waiting for and then watching the BAFTAs of course I did some meaningful work related laborious things inbetween which were no fun at all but why would I write about that. When the BAFTAs finally came around I missed the first little bit of them as it was split between BBC2 and BBC1 which is just plan weird, but I got to watch all of the better half. I only have a few things to note from it and that is that Jonathan Ross is funny and everyone needs to get off his case. Kate Winslet ruined Angelina Jolies chances by working too hard (but credit due I haven’t seen her movies but she is looking hot right now). My favourite part of the night was Mickey Rourkes speech. His movie is a must see for me, and if his open and hilarious speech is anything to go by he is back, expect to see a lot more of Mickey Rourke. (videos found here)

Films to see: The Wrestler, Slumdog Millionaire, The Reader, Revolutionary Road & Benjamin Button
and as it slipped in there with one award, I can highly recommend In Bruges which won original screenplay, it is a very well done movie and i guess original.
